Pink Shirt Day Letterbox drop

The back of each card
Personalised messages on the front

We decided to drop t-shirt messages into letterboxes around our community for Pink Shirt Day and to continue on our support for Mental Health in our community. We all added ideas to a padlet of things to say, then wrote ours into our books before getting a t-shirt card to write on and colour in gorgeously.
Our students are getting better and better at writing uplifting comments or finding comments that are relevant that others have written or that they have heard before. Most people managed to create three gorgeous
t-shirts.

We went to different streets this time and also asked people to repost the cards into other letter boxes when they have finished with them. Hopefully people will and the cards will go all over Auckland.
Group 3 ready to deliver t-shirt cards.

We headed out onto Hillsborough Rd to find some letter boxes. Of course we wanted cars and trucks and buses to toot and wave at us!! Which they did. It was a lot of fun.

To End Term One

When Puketapapa Local Board asked for a group of students to complete a survey around Community Wellbeing and Health we were happy to incorporate it into our programme. One, because it was supporting our local community, two it was an opportunity for student voice and three out school overarching Inquiry this year is Hauora - Wellbeing. One of the students chose Mental Health as what she thought was important to focus on and had the idea of writing kind messages and posting them into letter boxes. we thought this was a great idea and decided we would do it as a whole syndicate and post them on Gumboot Friday. The students loved it and we got lovely feedback from the community through phone calls and emails to the school. Here are some of the cards. We are planning another drop for this Friday - Pink Shirt Day. Watch this space.
